The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Japan and the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in Japan would like to invite you to the following event “The changing landscape of the labor market in the Netherlands and Japan” to be held on the 19th of March (Tuesday) at the Dutch Embassy in Tokyo. After the presentations, networking with drink will follow. The event will be free of charge.

  • Dr. Paul de Beer, Professor of industrial & labor relations of the University of Amsterdam, will talk about the Netherland:the world's ‘first part-time’ economy and other lessons from the Netherlands'
  • Local experts from the business community will elaborate on the latest trends in the Japanese labor market [ Speakers - TBC ].
  • After the presentations, we will open the floor for Q&A, drinks and networking.

Biography speaker:

Paul de Beer is Director of the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Labour Studies & Professor by special appointment Henri Polak Chair of Industrial Relations.

Prof. de Beer (1957) studied econometrics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (1976-1982). He achieved his Ph.D in economics at the University of Amsterdam in 2001 on the dissertation On working in post-industrial society (in Dutch). He has previously worked for the Wiardi Beckman Foundation (WBS) - the research bureau of the Dutch labour party; the Social and Cultural Planning Office (SCP) - a governmental research institute and the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) - one of the main advisory bodies of the Dutch government.
